9/11~ 10 year anniversary

Okay so we know that in the past while I've been down and out of sorts. Many things had brought me to that point....weight, money, kids, routines changing, not being able to plans things and have them execute well. I still have not come to finding a way to get these things in working order or perhaps I'm trying to work on too many things at once and that is what is causing things to fail.

What brings me to this particular post is the coverage of the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. This was a very emotional time when it first happened 10 years ago. I was on my way to take Connor to his one year check up at the Dr.s and I remember just sitting there in the office listening to the radio thinking "oh my gosh what happened?" I went home and sat in front of the tv and just started crying. I don't remember doing too much else over the next 3 days. I would take care of the boys and bathe but for the most part I sat in front of the tv and cried.

Having the anniversary this past weekend, I shed many a tear and learned of many new heroic stories that simply went untold until now. I saw some wonderful speaches from children who have grown up without their parent in their lives but live in their hearts forever.

I am taking this opportunity to remember. To remember that things are not always that bad in our lives. That there are people around that are hurting more than we are, more hungry than we are and who are more lonley than we are. I'm hoping that I can learn to appreciate again what I used to....the love of my family and friends and the joy and wonderful surprises that our world has in store for us. There will always be sorrow and heartache around us but we need to look just beyond that at the rainbows and silver linings that are there to keep our hope and spirits up.

Emotional Release

Well tonight at work showed me that I need to release my emotions a bit more when things aren't going so well. During the last two hours of work I had to work through a process change at my last station and for some reason it made me a bit angry and when I didn't have a release for that it made me want to cry...well that started it. I tried to stop crying but I couldn't, people would ask if I was okay and I'd say yes just give me some time and everytime I would try to stop I would start back up again. Think I'm going to try and look for a movie later today that needs a kleenex box to help get the rest of it out. I'm just glad I didn't have the big sobbing tears at work, that I was able to hold in but I will look for a better way to work with my feelings.

Getting Excited!

So these last few days have been much better but I think I figured out part of why I was feeling so down over everything in the last while. AF is coming and that really turns my emotions into overdrive. There are still things I worry about and will continue to do so until I can get them back into control, but for now I know that my emotional state will reach a normal level soon.

On to exciting news...my sister is coming to visit :)
I can't wait to see her and my nephew it's been way too long. She'll be here for a week so I'll have lots of time to catch up. Only downside I have is that we're working 6 days a week :( so we'll have to plan our time and my sleep accordingly.

Taking the time to enjoy the quiet for a bit before I go to bed...here's to a better day and a day closer until I see my sister!

Felt good at work last night, wasn't as sad as I didn't have much time to have thoughts running thru my head. Had a few good conversations with some people at work, that helped a lot! Also did some over time so that made me feel better as well knowing that it will help us out in the long run. I know that things will get better.....they always do I just have to learn to remember that little thing called patience.....it all comes around!

It's been a while but I always say that, but it's always here for me when I need it. Perhaps this will help me with my roller coaster of emotions that I've been having lately. Time will tell.

Bank Cards

my boys have one. They got it when they opened their bank accounts on Saturday.

No it's not standard procedure to hand out bank cards with youth accounts...they inquired.

Brian was sitting with them when they opened it when my oldest Brayden kindly asked where his bank card was. Connor thought the same right after the comment was made and Brian had told them that they didn't need one. However the cunning lady on the other side of the desk said I can give them one if it's okay with you (to Brian). Of course he said fine but that they don't get to carry them and we have copies of their numbers I mean geez their only 10 and 8.

So I have their little cards tucked away until they need them......really not sure when that will be but when the time comes I have it all for them.
How much they want to be like us!

Brian's last day of work was Friday. I still worked there every other week cleaning the plant (factory). Since they have taken everything out; desks and computers removed, the place needed a final once over to leave it in a nice condition for the next group of people to eventually move in.

I used my key for the last time on Saturday. I walked into a near empty building and all I could do was stare. I felt the tears well a little as I remembered how happy Brian was at work (he LOVED his job and say's he's going to miss it a lot). How busy we once were when things were going well, now it's empty and it echoes and it just feels sad.

Here's to bigger and better things?
I'm sure it will lead there we just have to continue the winding road with the many bumps and potholes and stop/yeild signs that we'll face in the next while. We've done it before and we'll make it again. It's just a little sad is all.

My husband has a terrible one!

That actually could sum it up and I could leave it all there but I won't.

Yesterday I had to drop the boys off at my sister-in-law's house before I went to work and since this is the last week Brian is working and they are tearing down a factory he has to wait for trucks and paperwork and everything else under the sun. So I drop them off and leave my house key for my neice as she would be walking them home later. I tell Brian of this plan and to please leave the door unlocked for me when I come home at midnight.

You can probably guess but yes he locked the door with no way for me to get in. I walk all the way around our condo unit and try and knock on the door...no answer. I couldn't use the door bell as we have a small wiring issue that makes my neighbours door bell ring too.

I then walk all the way around the condo unit again and get into the van. I drive over to Mac's Milk corner store and ask to use the phone. He lets me call twice and I got no answer. I hop in the van and head to Pioneer gas station and I walk in and ask the guy behind the counter; "I was wondering if I could ask a favor?" he says okay kind of questioningly " I need to know if I can use your phone for however long it takes to wake my husband...he locked me out of the house by accident". He laughes and says sure!

So I call....and I call, Oh and I call again, and again...yes it ended up being like 13 times if you count the other two phone calls. We have a phone in our room and he couldn't hear it. When he finally answered I told him about the nice guy who was helping me wake him from his slumber while all I wanted to do was sleep myself.

I get home and go upstairs to thank him for opeing the door and he says .............

"I was wondering why the phone just kept ringing?"

I could have killed him right there.

At least he also appologised for forgetting to keep the door unlocked as I didn't have my key...that saved him for today!

Chili cookoff

Well first of all I need to say this if you don't know...... I don't cook. I'm married to a very talented man who cooks for me. I can be sitting at home for 8 hours while he works and when he comes home I'll actually say "hunny what's for dinner?". I'm not kidding and he really doesn't mind it.

So I guess this started as a need to get out and enjoy some "grown-up time". My husband and his (our) friend owns a bar and had decided to have a chilli cookoff. Anyone could enter for a $20 fee which was reimbursed when youshowed up on time and with your chilli. I can handle that. So I wanted to make my mom's chilli...it's the best! As a child my sister and I were always allowed to have whatever we wanted for our birthdays and I chose chilli.

So I call mom up with many questions to her quite simple chilli recipe and she was happy to help. Brayden tried it when it was done and he loved it. Yay I cooked something that wasn't frozen or out of a box or a tuna casserole!

So yesterday was the big day and I brought my chilli in and it got placed into a generic pot with a number. There were 11 other contestants and judging was going to be peoples choice.

I came in 5th! I'm quite pleased...now mind you my husband came in 2nd but we know he can cook (though really I didn't like his.....lol how can that be?)

I think I may do this again next year but I'm going to try and get my FAVORITE ingredient that was sadly missing from this recipe. That was moose meat...honestly it really does make a difference on how it tastes and maybe it'll be the difference between 5th and 1st!

I've secretly been trying to tell the boys that they wanted fish! I didn't have any luck in that department they didn't want any. Now my husband had remembered that I always wanted a fish tank and was thoughtful enough to get me one for Christmas. Guess what now all of a sudden the boys are interested. I went out Saturday and got the stuff for the tank (gravel, plants, a tank ornament) and had it all set up that afternoon so it could all settle in. Well when I got home from work yesterday Connor practically tugging at my arm said that he really wanted us to go buy fish. Well Brayden overheard this and really wanted to go too. Okay I thought I guess they're picking the fish. We went back to the pet store and I picked the first fish thinking we were only getting two to start. I was wrong. They each needed one. Fine. So we have 3 fish. Brayden picked a black molly and named it pepper right there in the store. Connor picked a gold fish and named it Tiger Tail (yes after the icecream it's what the colours look like). I myself had picked a goldfish as well, a white one with a red head. I'm at a loss for a name. The only name I keep thinking of is Hemmorage. I'm thinking it may not be suitable. I had a simillar fish as a teeneager and his (or her) name was Barry. I don't want to use the same name again, so I'm trying really hard to think of something else. I'm at a loss for the moment. So I'll leave it with pictures, I'm sure you can tell who is who and the picture of the tank really doesn't show how pretty it really is! Maybe my fish will have a name in a day or two!

Well I think I'll just start from the beginning and go from there.

About December 10th I started to get sick. I was working that night and had a fever and the chills, great I thought just what I need now but at least it should be done before Christmas. So the next day we went to sign the papers for our house! (yes we got it we are homeowners now!) So we're sitting in the lawyers office and I feel another fever comming on. We left there and went straight to the pharmacy where I got a fever reducer and cold medication. That's fine. The weekend comes and I lose my voice for almost the whole weekend. That made working fun let me tell you! So I go on till the next Monday (now I've been sick for 1 weeks and 5 days) and I haven't gotten any better. Went to the hospital well I have bronchitis...wonderful. So I head out to the pharmacy once again to get anitibiotics...as I'm standing there waiting I feel my ear blocking with something. I'm thinking great now I have to get my ear flushed out. I wait until the Saturday night and I can't stand my ear anymore so I go to the hospital once again (5 days later) and I have fluid build up behind my ear. Nothing you can do about it it should go away on it's own, but take some sinus medication and it should help. So the next morning I get sinus medication too. My ear is STILL plugged by the way! So that's fine I'm on sinus pills and antibiotics that end sunday. Well Monday morning (this is now Dec 29th) I wake up and I really am having trouble breathing so I go to the hospital again (3rd time in 8 days). So I'm there and actually get a Dr. who is willing to ask questions and listen. So he listens to my chest and is not happy that I've been sick for so long. So he orders blood work (white blood cells were high) a chest x-ray ( looked not too bad) and a breathing test ( I could have done better). So he gave me another perscription for a super heavy antibiotic (finished yesterday) and a puffer to help open my lungs to breath a little easier. I'll tell you we need a drug plan. I spent more on prescription drugs in those 8 days than I spent on my husband for Christmas.

Christmas was great I had gotten an aquarium that I was not expecting but that I was very happy to recieve. I also got the whole Twilight series which I have already read and loved. The boys got spoiled not only by us but also by Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles.

I still have my Christmas decorations up however I wish they were already down. I haven't been able to do that as I 've got a kink in my neck that I've had almost 3.5 days but it is slowly getting better. (I'm just having the luck in the health dept. aren't I?) So I'm hoping that this will be accomplished this weekend and then I can set up my aquarium with pretty things.

We're waiting to see what happens with Brian's job. Yes the plant is closing at the endof January but he may have to work a bit into February as well. That's the part we don't really know yet. After that we're just not sure. He's been trying to find a job but it's pretty hard at the moment as there are just no good jobs to be found in our area. We have many things to think about and hopefully we'll find something that is just right!

I know that this sound a bit like a downer post but it really isnt. Just filling in info that I had no energy to write about before now. I'm slowly on the mend and then plan on working on my New Years Resolution (HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!) and that's to try and actually cook dinner for my family.
You see Brian is the cook in the house. I don't do it. I'd like to try, but I stink at it. I have made spaghetti and casseroles in the past year. Anything else is either frozen or I do take out on the nights Brian isn't home. It's terrible and I plan on correcting that this year. I need to show my kids that Mom can do something besides keep their clothes clean. Thought that is important too...lol. So I'm going to try Julies menu idea but I'm not starting it until February when I know my mind should be well and better from all this sickness I've had. I'm still working on getting my energy back that I'd lost. I get a bit more done around the house now then I did before so that's an improvement and I know that I'm on the mend.

It's been a busy month

Sorry for taking some time off but it's been a bit hectic here. We've been busy working and getting things ready for Chirstmas.

I had started a cold a little over two weeks ago, it started to get better then didn't. I went into the hospital Monday morning to find out that I have Bronchitis. That's always a nice gift for myself. Trying to clean in between hacking up a lung and trying to catch my breath has not been fun and it seems like my work is never done because it is taking so long to do.

We're looking forward to having Christmas this year in our home! We will not have to pack anything up to take here or there. It's all where it needs to be already and I like that. I think even the boys are excited that they can just stay here and not be bothered with leaving the house.

I'm hoping I'm on the mend and tomorrow morning will not be another 20 minute coughing session and that I can enjoy the morning with the boys. We're actually going to see if we can stay in bed till the boys wake up...I don't see that working as I've been waking up every morning for the last 4 days around 5-6 am. We'll see I can always wake them up...:)

Brian went Christmas shopping for me yesterday. He was nice enough to call from outside to ask where I was in the house so he could bring my presents in. I was nice enough and hide for him....lol. He then comes back down to our living room and asks me not to go to a certain place in the house as that's where my presents are and he'll wrap them tomorrow (today).
So I know he has presents for me. I know exactly where they are. I could go look at them, but I won't. Maybe I'll take a nap so I won't think about it!

The boys went out with him yesterday and bought my presents, and they picked the presents out all by themselves. I'm afraid I'll dissapoint one of them if I borrow the book. Now I have to wait another 17 days, I hope I'm strong enough to do it! I was going to get the book on Tuesday now I have to look at it , say thank you, but I can't read it and hand it back!

Crazy Kids

So last night I had my niece over for a sleepover while Connor went over to his cousin's house for the night as well. So it's just Brayden at home with A and we put the kids to bed around 10pm Brayden in his room and A in Connor's room. It's friday night so it didn't matter if they stayed up late or not. I had to be up by at least 4 am to get ready for work this morning. As I'm heading down to the bathroom I see a light on in Connor's room. I think to myself that I know I had shut the light off for A last night so I thought I'd peak in to make sure.

Well I open the door and see Brayden and A in there..... lamp on......reading books. Oh it was way too cute. You'd think they'd sleep in forever but no couldn't sleep so lets read. I did however send them to bed and back to sleep as they did need it.

Every night when i come to bed it's all quiet until I go to climb into bed. It's then that I think he knows I'm there and then he decides to start snoring because it really ticks me off. Last night however I kind of chuckled but all the while still getting frustrated by the minute. I come upstairs it's all quiet. I sneak into bed and lovely...it's still quiet. I'm laying there and oh no; now I need to roll over. I roll over and yup Brian changes position as well...decides he's going to hum a little tune (not sure what it was) and then start snoring. Then he stopped, sweet I may get to sleep after all. Nope about 5 minutes later he started up again. Then stopped. Then....yeah you know where this is going.

Normally I would have gotten up to sleep on the couch but no last night I was determined to stay in bed. It took me 3 hours to get to sleep...or at least to the point where I was able to not look at the clock. It drove me insane!

Next time I'm just going to sleep on the couch or with one of the boys!

the tree is up

it's finally here...Christmas! We've got the tree up though we need a new set of lights so we have to wait to decorate the tree. Other Christmas nic-nacs are out and ready to be placed. The boys have their chocolate advent calendars ready for tomorrow, and I have my own too (they have a Laura Secord one) that is thick and I'm hoping just as yummy as I think it's going to be. Christmas carols will be played all day tomorrow, and tuesday will be baking up a storm with my dad's recipee for ginger snaps. I can't wait, and it's started snowing. I'm not a fan of snow in the least but I do really love to have a white Christmas.

that sounds funny to say but it seems his braces are already working great! I had a look in his mouth yesterday and we can see some white spots in his gums where his teeth should be comming in. He's in no discomfort also so that's really nice to hear. His next apt is Dec 18th and he's thinking of getting red and green elastics for Christmas, we'll take a new picture at that time and maybe we'll see an extra tooth or two.

Underwear!

I really don't like buying underwear. I wish I didn't have to; however there are certain reasons why we need them. No I'm not going into why, I want to complain about buying them. I wish that when you buy them that all packaging has proper size lables not just small, med, large....etc. While I do appreciate that they give you hip measurements I don't always remember to measure my hips before I hit the stores. Really what size are my hips? I have no freakin clue! What I think they should do is put a pant size on the back! I know what size I wear in those....(though I'd really like it to be smaller). Also what I don't like about buying underwear is that when you finally "think" you know what size you need you bring them home, try a pair on to see and then..............you know what.............yes it's comming............they don't fit!
You can't return underwear if the package is open!
It's very frustrating now you're stuck with 3-6 or so pairs and they are too small. No they're never too big always too small. We don't buy them bigger because that's uncomfortable we buy them smaller so they can be uncomfortable.

I now own small uncomfortable underwear. I'm sure I'll stretch them out in no time though!

He wants this game more than anything and it just can't be found and some of the sites I've found it on I'm not sure if I trust them or not.. If you can help that'd be great if not it's okay too!

Brian's trip to Michigan

Again I can't get into too much detail but it wasn't a completely wasted trip. Though they almost didn't make it there with the snow on the roads. Thankfully it cleared on their way home. They had gotten some usefull information and contacts that they may or may not need in the future, but is always good to have. We're still waiting to hear on another piece of information that we were given at the beginning of the week, but that may still be a few weeks time before we hear anything on that.

I'm sorry I can't get into any more detail, but in most aspects things look good, not great but at least good. He's home safe so that's pretty much all that matters to me!

Yup that's right! I'm that close to having all my Christmas shopping done! It just so happened that we knew early on what the boys really wanted and had the money available. So little by little over the last 4 weeks I've almost gotten everything I need to complete the big ol' list!
Also had to get them new boots today as the dumping of snow we got today has already almost ruined their shoes. Now all I need to do is start reading Twilight. I bought that for myself today cause ya know what....I deserve it!

Brian will be home tonight; I guess they got done all that was needed in the time they had today. Not sure how it went or what was discussed but I'll find out later!

Now off to relax!

I came home last night from work and noticed that the boys Christmas lists had been moved. So I pick it up and find some things added. Brayden (the one who wanted the army men....) has added these items:
*-bristol board
*-blank paper
*-tape
*-glue

tell me how can I NOT love this boy! He's so simple it's lovely!
Yes he also added another Wii game to the pile but he had on stuff that he can use to create and use imagination.

As for Connor 3 more Wii games ...lol

So I called Brian about an hour ago and asked him how he was doing as he sounded a bit down. He said he's had a bad day so I asked him why? He told me he'd be home soon and he'd explain then. So it's now been over an hour and haven't heard from him at all. He's got me worried and he knows how much a worrier I can be and it's really probably not good for my health the way I worry! I just hope he's home soon and I'm worked up over nothing...but who knows. I'll find out later.

sleeping in

Oh boy do I love to sleep. It's even better when I get to sleep in. I can do it for hours! That's what I did this morning. Then the phone rings.......grrrr. I actually do say that as I march over to the phone with angry feet. I do not like to be woken up, unless I'm the one doing the waking with my alarm. If I have time to sleep ...I do. I'll take a nap any time of day if I have enough time. I'll even go to bed early just so I can fall asleep first and not hear Brian snoring so I can get an extra hour sleep. I'm already looking forward to Sunday.... I can sleep in then too!

Well it's not feeling like fall anymore. It's not quite Christmas yet. Had to go somewhere in between. I like it. Just not a fan of updating and re-adding info that was in my blog. One day when I have time I'll take a good look in the html and try to save the things I don't want undone.

I'm tired again Brian asked me to work again this week and tomorrow is my last day!!! Good as I told him if he needed me more I just couldn't possibly do it. I'm too tired, I have no time for anything and our house is showing it. I need to get back into MY routine! I'll be looking forward to the end of tomorrow!

Well here he is he did so well , I was VERY proud of him. He listened so well. He was wanting to go with pink elastics but we got him to change his mind and he got the blue glow in the dark elastics. I'm sure we'll have a picture of those very soon!

so Connor's stuffed himself with candy over these last 10 days and gets to have his braces put on tomorrow morning. He was quite upset actually that he didn't have his braces for his school pictures so he has decided that we will be taking a before picture, and after picture (after braces put on) and one with each coloured elastic change (once a month) and a final without braces picture.

It kinda freaked me out when I came home from work last night and the first thing I see is Brayden's bedroom door open. So I go in quietly to see if maybe he just didn't shut the door after maybe going to the bathroom, but no he's not in there. Okay; so then I go and look in Connor's room ...maybe they slept together? I doubted it anyways as I really couldn't see why they would. Nope no Brayden and no Connor. Okay so this is weird and I'm wondering why I can't find my kids. I go upstairs to check our room. Yup Brian's there but still no kids. So I draw my own conclusion, the kids were at a sleepover.....somwhere.

Yup they're at their Aunts house with their cousins. Told Brian he should have called to let me know. It was just a little freaky and I didn't like it!

I think I needed the sleep....

Well after workng those crazy hours these last few days I needed sleep. I came home yesterday and completely relaxed. By 7pm I was getting ready for bed. At 8pm I said goodnight to all and went to lay down. Hmmmm I got up at 7am! Wow that was crazy, I feel much better today!

Wow okay so I work nights, usually about 5pm-12am. This means that I go to bed anywhere between 130am and 230am. I'll then get up with the boys (thank heavens for snooze or they'd never get to school), make their lunches and shove them out the door. Then I go back to bed for a few hours.
That's how that works and it works really well.

I also clean at my husbands factory. I also used to work there so I know how things get done. Now I only clean once every two weeks right now which works great it's not like I over work myself.

But that brings me to this post now doesn't it.....overworking.
Brian needed help at the factory and since I'm still on payroll it's very easy for me to come in rather then trying to get somebody else to come in and help with anything. So this is where I lost my common sence (and if someone finds it PLEASE send it back home).

I worked Tues from 5-12, Brian needed me 12-3 wednesday and asked if I can come in Thursday and Friday as well working about 9-3...I said yes! Now get this though back to Wednesday...I also had to go back to my work 5-12, today I'm going back to the factory 9-3 then working 5-12 AGAIN!!! and then finally Friday 9-3. See the problem, I'm having a sleep issue. I love my sleep and I'm not getting it. He askes for help and I just do because that's who I am. I'm really going to regret this by tomorow morning.

About the only thing keeping me going is I know we'll be able to get everything for the kids for Christmas now without worrying about it. Thank goodness for that!

And yes she did it on purpose!

Where she works they had a fundraiser going to raise money to get a tracker for a Bald Eagle that would be used to research their travels to see what can be done to save them. They had a goal of $2000.00 for this fundraiser. They reached the goal and as part of the reaching the goal they had said they would shave their heads! So now my mother-in-law is bald and the boys think it's cool!
(I myself have not seen it yet!)

I can't believe I forgot to post this before. On Halloween I was so proud of my two boys. Neither of them ran down the street as other kids did, they walked from house to house. They also used sidewalks and walking paths to go door to door. Didn't even think of walking on someones grass. At every door they said trick or treak very politely and said thank you when the goodies were recieved .

The best part....after every house Brayden said to the person who answered the door....."Hope you have a Happy Halloween!"

That just melted my heart! We've done good!

Really I should not be left home alone with my children's candy and chocolate. I know I'm the mom and should know that I shouldn't touch it but dude IT'S CANDY AND CHOCOLATE!!!!!

What am I supposed to do ignore the taunting. That does not work for me at all, if it's in the house I have to eat it! That's probably why we really don't buy a lot of that stuff anyways.

I know I had said yesterday that I might have to eat it all for them but I ..well at least...I thought I was kidding. Aparently not!

That's how long Connor gets to keep his candy for!
On Nov 11th Connor gets his braces, so he'll have no more candy or sugary treats or...oh no...no ribs!!!!! Only for about 6 months...then he can have his candy back. I'll also take Brayden off of his to try and make things a little fair, though I think it would be fun for Connor to be able to have a bunch of candy when his brother's is all gone. We'll see, I may change my mind all together and just eat it all for them.

So yes we're new to this neighbourhood and the boys have quite a few friends here. We're getting things ready for Halloween and since I have it off I'm taking the boys out trick-or-treating and Brian is staying home to hand out candy. Well our nieghbour came over the other day to help Brian move our BBQ from the balcony to our garage (yay winter BBQ'S!), and he saw the loot that Brian had bought. So he says to him "You didn't buy all that for Halloween did you? We only got like one kid last year!"

Oh no! Yeah Brain had bought like $40 in goodies to hand out to the kids. So we're hoping that the boys friends will all be like lets go to Brayden and Connor's house! If not the lucky few who show up will get a ton of candy and probably make it all the worse for next year as they'll expect it again!

So my important reminder of the day is .....ask your neighbour!

Enough of grey hair! Finally after many months of saying I'm going to try and see how I like it, I've decided that I don't. When I lost count at the number of grey hairs I had and I didn't like how it was comming in I went out and bought "the" box!

Wow...what can I say! We just got home after being gone oh...maybe 6+ hours and came home to our garage door open. WHAT!!! you say? No we accidently left it open.

Connor forgot to grab his sweater, so Brian opened the garage door with the remote to let him go inside the house to get his sweater. In a rush as Connor had to go in and out 3 times before we told him just to grab another sweater (he couldn't find his) he came back and we left.

Well NOTHING was out of place! That's fantastic! Everything where we left it and nothing touched.
Don't get me wrong we're not going to get into the habit of leaving doors open for total strangers but it's just really nice to know that we finally live in a great neighbourhood...not only for us but for our children as well!

Well a new year and a time for new beginnings.

Well now wasn't that a traditional way to start this post...haha.

I guess it's also the time for new resolutions for ourselves, our home and our family!

I guess I'll list mine in that order.

Myself:
I plan to keep up with the weight loss I've started for myself. I've been feeling great and I figure that 7 years was long enough to hold on to the extra weight from when I had Connor. I still have a bit of work to do and some fixing of my eating habits from Christmas but that's all easy to do. I also plan on increasing the amount of daily activity I do (or don't do enough of right now.).

I want to get my hair cut! I need a style; being long right now just isn't cutting it, I need it to do something when I have it down.

I'm also going to go to school this year. Wow now there's a big one! Yes after being out of high school for ...gosh...12-13 years I figure it's time to do something for myself and get a real job so to say! I plan on being a Medical Office Assistant. Yes I want people to be mad at me when they can't get in to see their Dr. and have to wait a month for the next available appointment. Call me crazy maybe but it's the one job that has snuck it's way into my head and has been festering there for about 4 years now so I think that it's time I do something about it!

My Home:
Boy where do I start here.....
I need to do some major re-organizing. Really need to de-clutter. And really need to make a schedule for myself, Brian and the kids so we can keep our home fuss free (or close to it). This way the kids can be organized for homework and such as well as myself. Plus with having a schedule maybe then we won't have to do a whole day of cleaning on a Saturday when we can spend it doing something a lot more fun!

My Family:
Here I want to do a lot more things as a family, even if it's just the 4 of us sitting down playing Nintendo. We just got a bunch of board games for Christmas so maybe we can do a family game night or something. Have dinners that the boys get to decide on to make things more fun and enjoyable.

Well it's all something to think about, not to rush into as it all takes time, patience and practice.

Almost settled

Well I'm here I know I haven't posted in a while or checked out anyone else's blog lately and I'm sorry!

I think we're mostly settled into our appartment even though something bigger would be more ideal in our family situation with two growing boys, but for now we'll manage till we save up enough for a house.

I have but a few boxes left to unpack and I'm hoping to get that accomplished by next weekend. This holiday weekend went way too fast. I had Friday off work and Brian myself and the boys headed down to Long Point for the night to see friends of ours. Had a nice night with everyone and returned home Saturday morning. I spent that day mostly re-organising the boys room and going thru their clothes to see what still fits. Not too much I'll have to do some shopping for them next weekend. Sunday we went to Church ( a whole other blog ) and then we came home and I made Banana Bread and then went to my sister-in-law's for dinner with the whole family! What a fun evening that was! Today I did laundry at the mat...(woohoo that was a blast...NOT) and then came home and started baking again, Apple loaf, Coconut Cinnamon loaf, and for desert we're having Apple Jack.

I've missed doing baking and now it seems like I'm making up for lost time. Can't wait to do more, very likely next weekend!

Wow well first off today is 34 days of not smoking and would you believe I've already saved $185.00....wow! I'm feeling pretty good although I wish I could get more walking in. I haven't been able to get to walk as any time I have seems to involve packing.

Packing doesn't seem to be going anywhere though either. I get a bunch packed but then I look around and still see a bunch more that needs to be done. I really need a week off to get all this shit together! Oh well what can I do, maybe I'll see if I can either get this Monday or this Friday off work and I can get a bunch more accomplished.

Looking forward to moving though not sure why but for the fact that we'll be closer to our family and friends and save money on gas traveling to and from work, but the space we'll have will be a huge adjustment.

I guess everything is worth looking forward to as it's always a step forwards, if it's a step back you'd never get anywhere!

Update on our move!

Looks like we're moving into an apartment! We got accepted into one today and we're going to take it. Financially we'll be in a better position for a mortgage after about a year and instead of doing a loan for our down payment we're going to take advantage of the free included utilities and save for our dp.

I'm happy about it or at least I'm making the best of this situation...lol

We've come to the realization that we have to move into an appartment. Looks like it has to be a two bedroom at that and that's going to suck but has other benefits at the same time.

Con~ not much room
~ boys will have to share a room
~ we may have to get rid of some things and have other things put into storage

Pro~ we won't have to pay for heat or hydro
~ we'll have a place to live come August 1st...
~ we'll have the chance to save up enough for a down payment for a house so we shouldn't have to live there for more than at the most two years, the least a year!

I'm okay with this, Brian not so much. He thinks I'll get cranky living in such a small place but I've tried to tell him that I think this is the best thing to do for us to save money for our house. Also with us living back in town I'll be able to get the boys involved in things and take them places cause I'll have the vehicle more.

I think it will all work out in the end. He's worried , I'm not and that's a first for both of us. Usually I'm the worrier and he's not. Oh well.

I'll update when we find a place!

So we have a bit of fun at work. We've made up some different words.

One is "bunnifin" it kind of looks like a bunny one way or an elephant another so that's the name we came up with.

The other is "Canadianize" we say that if we forgot to put our Canadian sticker on..."oh we have to Canadianize that one"...lol

And our favorite statement is..."stitchin' is bitchin'" We're thinking of making t-shirts with that on there!

Still that's what I walked tonight and plan on making it a nightly routine as I need to do something else to keep my mind from wanting to smoke. Plus I won't have to worry about gaining the extra pounds that also come with the quitting smoking!

and I still haven't had a smoke! I'm pretty darn proud of myself.

I'm not sure if it's the whole attitude I have towards it or if I was actually "ready" for this quit but things seem to be going pretty easy for me.
I've had no huge cravings or want for a smoke. Yes there were a couple times I did but it was nothing major that I couldn't ward off. I haven't let my guard down either though, I know I'll be challenged many times and I'll be ready for it. I'm not in the imaginary frame of mind where "I've gone a week I don't have to worry any more"...no I'll always worry and I'll always be taking it day by day and minute by minute.

So here I am:~ Six days, 17 hours, 13 minutes and 41 seconds. 120 cigarettes not smoked, saving $36.27.

That feels pretty darned good!

So I was listening to the radio yesterday and on it came an announcement to all the "kids planning to attend the bush party in....this weekend we're letting you know that the police will be there too".

Aparently some of the kids posted this information on Facebook and the police found out about it and are going to crash the bush party! I myself thought it was quite clever cause I mean really don't post the darned thing on the internet...don't all the cool kids have cell phones for texting? That's the safer way I think.

Just came back in from having to search for a little boy in our complex who went missing just a while ago.

He lives only two doors down from us and is just an adorable little boy. His Mom came to our door crying and asking us if we'd seen him. We hadn't but imediately put our coats on to join the growing neighbourhood search.

Brian went one way and I went another and the kids helped as well knowing where all the other "big" kids play!

I come around the corner of the boys school to find them .... my boys, Brian, a neighbour and the little missing boy!

Brayden was grinning from ear to ear saying..."I found him, he was watching the football game!"

He was so proud and so was I that we had come together to find this little boy!

So glad we found him safe and sound, think my kids are going to get a few extra hugs and kisses tonight!

it begins tomorrow.

I will quit smoking!

This has been somthing that has been building up for sometime and now is the time to do it. I am going to go through this with some help. My good friend is quitting with me and I am getting help from stop study where I will get 5 weeks of NRT (nicotine replacement thereapy) for free for wanting to quit. The other 5 weeks are up to me to purchase, which I plan on doing! I am also getting some additional support from quitnet which is an online support group which in the past has been wonderful and I truly believe that this time will be the last.

It is a hard thing to do and I truly wish I had never started smoking to begin with but I did and now is the time to correct it and take back my body and my health!

So my journey begins tomorrow and I'm sure this blog will be used as a huge venting tool. I'm sorry if this may bore some people but I need this as a release and a resourse for myself as well.

Here's to tomorrow......

Sorry I've been MIA but we've now finished our 3rd or 4th (I can't remember) week of overtime at work so I'd been getting up at 4:45 am, start work at 7am till 530 then home by 6-7pm at night.

Things aren't going to get much better for me time wise as we are putting in our 65 days notice to move from the co-op which puts us to leaving on August 1st. So we are house hunting (going to try and apply for our first mortgage) and if that doesn't work we are also looking at rentals just so that we have a place to move to.

So between all this overtime and now decluttering and packing and house hunting I'm pretty busy but I'll try to post just a little more often!

Oh we had so much fun! Only 3 of us were there but there was enough liquor for 8! We started drinking aound 8pm, had some food, played some games, drank some more, did a lot of Jello shooters(see picture) and by 430 though we'd call it quits on the drinking and hit the sack around 5am!

Feeling pretty okay this morning a bit tired but I still got it! Lets just say that between the 3 of us there's not much Malibu, Rye, Vodka, Butterscotch Schnapps or Alize left. Can't wait till our next one late July! Seeing as how we've decided to make this a seasonal event we'll be better prepared for the next one and hopefully have a few extra people with us!

my weekend!

So originally my weekend was supposed to be me going back home to North Bay to see my new niece/nephew as my sister is due TODAY, but there is no sign of baby showing up soon at all. I'm now making plans to go home next weekend, unless this baby desides to make an appearance in the next few hours then I'll be heading up North!

So now my weekend will be going to get my hair cut and coloured (have to cover the grey that's starting to come in fast) and Saturday I'm going to a friends house with a few other girls and we're having a good old fashioned drink fest complete with old drinking games!

Rules for the drinking weekend are bring one type of alchohol to share(each person brings something different) and we have to bring something to eat, like a nacho dip, appetizer type stuff. Brian's watching the boys so it'll be nice to just relax with the girls and have a good time...which reminds me I need to pick up asprin!

I'm now home for a week off work. A temporary lay-off! Great just what I need when we're trying to move. The only bonus is now I can do some more packing of the things we won't need for a while. I'm not happy about not working but at least Brian wasn't affected by the lay-off and he's still working. Just frustrating is all and I guess I needed to vent!

okay so it seems as though the place we want to move to isn't going to be what we're looking for. It's hard to raise your kids in a house where your landlord lives right beside you and is a DRUG DEALER!!!!!

That's right no typo here I'm so glad we came across that info as I'd be furious to find out after we moved in. So the hunt is on and pulling out all help around us.

Putting in applications everywhere for housing, getting sister-in-law to hunt down any leads in the real estate end of things (so nice to have connections, and just having friends keeping ears and eyes fully open for any and all possibilities as it's costing us way to much to live here in Woodstock and travel to work in Tillsonburg.

That's all I did yesterday with my friend and I'd have to say that my basement is almost all done. We are throwing out tons of stuff that we just haven't used in I'd say well over a year, so clutter be gone. Also it's really nice where I live as it's spring clean up in the city! Spring clean up is when you clean out your house of unwanted household goods not really meant for normal garbage pick up:ie furniture, matresses, old toys not suitible for donation etc... and they come and take it away for nothing! We also have a ton of stuff that is suitable for donation like a lot of books the kids have outgrown and clothes that I'm going to donate to the womens shelter and a couch for the Goodwill. It feels great to be getting rid of everything, donating things and packing things up to make for an easier move when we do!

not too sure why but I've been thinking more and more about getting another tattoo. Maybe it's the weather, maybe I'm just ready. The hardest part is knowing what I want and where I want to put it. I want to have it look good and not junky. I want it to mean something to me, and most importantly I have to have it in a place where I can hide it if it's not appropriate or show it off when I want!

Okay first of all....I LOVE IT!!!!

It's really great not much strain at all. Not a lot of pressure but you do have to follow job specifications, obviously! The hard jobs really aren't that hard. The time frame is perfect for me (though my body doesn't think so yet).

Yes I make boxes! Really big boxes for car parts, wheelchairs etc... you can actuall fit I'd say like 8-10 people in them standing up, that's pretty big! Super sturdy boxes that totally surprised me once I saw them built. It's a company that is American based and everyone we've met from the Michigan plant are absolutely wonderful, kind and willing to help and can ask any questions to.

Tiredness has set in but I am here, just have to get used to these hours, I'm so not used to it.

So I went in and told them that I had bad news and that I was putting my notice in. I start on Monday but that I would help them out as much as I could.

Karen(the owner) came to me later and said that she was sad that I was leaving but that I had helped her when she was in trouble(when I left before but went back when she offered more hours yadda yadda), and that should it not work out at my new place I still have a place there. So that was very nice.

They also filled my shifts for next week so I'm officially off work as of this sunday! but start to work at my new job on Monday!

I get to put in my notice to work. I wil no longer be employed by Wendy's. I will have my life back. I will be able to see my children. I will be able to go out with my friends. I will have freedom.

I hope it all goes well as the owner of the restaurant has flown in from Alberta this week and will be there when I hand my resignation in. That makes the situation just a little more stressfull, but I know in my heart that I'm doing what is right for my family and for myself. Set aside my family for a moment I personally need this change. I need to sleep better. Right now I do not sleep well, in fact because of what I've had to work I sleep all the time because I'm constantly trying to catch up on sleep. I eat, sleep and work, and that's no life to lead.

I just got great news from Brian! He is working at a new job today ( a new factory that's opening up where we plan to move in the summer) and his boss asked him if I had put my 2 weeks notice in to work yet? as I am trying to get in there as well. He said no he was waiting(and myself) for the contracts to be signed before I had no job.

Well he said the contracts were signed and that I can give my two weeks notice! I'll be working with Brian (indirectly) he'll be in shipping and recieving and I'll be in plant assembly.

The perfect thing is it's mon-fri 7am-330pm NO AFTERNOONS OR MIDNIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!

I will once again be able to see my kids at night hopefully won't be tired anymore(once my body gets used to that shift) have weekends off! I'm so excited, I've been on pins and needles over the last two weeks cause I knew it would happen but I couldn't tell anyone!!!!!

I can sleep tonight yeah!

Now to find an easy way to break the news at work.

I had a great time Saturday night with my friend. We went out to the show to watch The Messengers(not a bad movie but not a great one ..not going to give it away though), then came home and made dinner and watched another movie- Varsity Blues, I had never watched it before and I really liked it, quite funny!
Then we watched The Illusionist, what an amazing movie! Loved, loved, loved this movie.So much in fact I may have to purchase the movie.

All in all I had an absolutely great time with my friend and it was much needed time away for me to relax! Hope I get to do it again a bit sooner!

Brian was not supposed to work tomorrow (Saturday)(I'm still up so it's not really saturday to me yet) but now he is. I was supposed to go see my friend and just hang out but when he told me he had to work I just started crying. I just need time to and for myself!

So Brian knew I was upset so he called his sister to see if she could watch the boys for a few hours and she will, so now I can have time with my friend and just have a few good laughs which is what I really need. I've had way too much stress over work and money and anything else really that you can think of and I couldn't get away, but now tomorrow I get to and it's such a relief!

since I've seen my husband because of our schedules...
I saw him last on Saturday afternoon before I went to work and just saw him tonight. We really need new jobs....lol and both work in the same city.

That's just crazy, I missed him so much even if it is just crawling into bed during the wee hours of the morning till he wakes up.

Though having a night with no snoring didn't bother me much;)

time for an update!

So we're well into February and I've been meaning to post but don't. I have no time.
I'm so tired of my job and being tired all the time it's just nuts. I do have a job available to me but we're waiting for it to become official. It'll be wonderful working 7-330 everday and spending some well needed time with my kids. I just hope it all goes acording to plan and I can very soon give work my two weeks notice.

In addition to that we're going to move again. The kids don't know yet as we're waiting for the school year to end because we don't want to have to take the kids out of the school before their year ends. We're moving back to Tillsonburg as that's where everyone is for us! I miss being able to call up my friends and just hang out. Living here I have to plan it out almost 2 weeks in advance to see my friends and that stinks.

I have to wait to get my bloodwork done as I have no way into the lab! Once I can finally get in there then the Dr. and I can work on my weight issues!

That's life in a nutshell, and boy oh boy it's a big nut!

What's been going on....

Well I guess I'd have to say we've had lots going on but in the same time not so much.

I've been spending a lot of time at work at least 4 times a week at almost 10 hours each time and sometimes even get called in on my day off, but oh well I work cause I need to right? So since I work mostly at night (3pm-1am) I'm usually up until the wee hours of the morning (330-4am) and so then I get up and get the boys ready for school, which is very hard to do on very few hours sleep but I manage. Then I go back to bed, I try for only a few hours but sometimes ends up being way more as my body will tell me when I need it!

Connor has turned into my little winter monster. He'll tell you he doesn't like it because it's cold but he'll be the first one out the door to go play in it. Today he was out from 10 am-2pm sledding in the back yard (the school has a hill right behind us), and he had so much fun. He has a Dr.s apt comming up as we would like to find out why he's had so many ear infections in the last while. Seems he's had I'd say 4 in the last 10-12 months and to me that's a lot. I hope we find out soon.

Brayden on the other hand is giving me grief from school. He's not participating at all and is sitting out a lot in other activities. He doesn't complete his homework when I'm not home even though the babysitter knows it needs to be done. I've had my talk with Brayden I just need to have a chat with the sitter too. I feel like a part of this is my fault for working so many evenings and not having enough quality time with the boys. I'm hoping not but I can't help but think it, and am seriously considering other employment yet again to better improve this situation. We'll see how that goes though. Brayden also has wart issues. This is NOT fun! The poor guy had had a wart on his finger that doesn't want to go away. He's begun to pick at it and now he has five on 3 fingers all together. They won't go away, we've tried everything! So now it's off to another Dr. to see if they can be burnt off. He's embarrased by them and they need to just go away!

I myself in the next month or so am going to finally try to loose weight. I've talked to my Dr about this and we're going to check for a couple of things in some bloodwork before we get down to it but once that's out of the way I'm going to seriously start doing it. I'm at the point where I get scared of the things that could happen because of my weight. I don't want to be any more a worrier than I already am.

So that's what's been going on, I'm around but I'm either working or sleeping. I really do try to get here to put my thoughts but sometimes I'm just too tired to do it.

yesterday was nice!

Well now after running around and cleaning my house (yes I got the basement finished) I had the day off yesterday and had nothing to do! (okay I had a touch of laundry but ...) It was so nice, I watched a lot of tv and I took a nap after all my hard work...lol. Then later I played some video games...I literally did nothing and I loved every minute of it as I don't ever get to do that.

Then there's today......

Tackling the basement.....

Oh boy why did I take this task on? Well the obvious answer would be that it just needs to be done!

I have put this off for a year! (I know that's awful but we really only used it for laundry!)

So over the year instead of having a play area for the boys (the original intention for the basement) we have let it pile up with old boxes, toys the boys don't use and a never ending supply of laundry which most of it either doesn't fit anyone anymore or we just don't care to wear.

So the job today is to pack up and donate all good clothes that don't fit, and throw out those that are just not wearable, and create a space where the boys can entertain their friends without Mom and Dad getting in their way. Also eliminating the piles of clothes that I think I have to wash but I really don't have to (as they will be gone!)

Maybe this will help me in organizing the rest of the house as well cause I won't want to pile anything else down there once it's all clean!

Here's to de-cluttering and cleaning out the basement and eventualy rest of the house!

Been a while since I've put anything in here I guess that's what the holidays do to ya!

Well things are good we had a fabulous Christmas with my parents and I really hope we can do it again before another 7 years fly bye!

I've also discovered that I feel old over the holidays...I got an MP3 player for Christmas and I really don't know how to put stuff on it. I did figure it out but it took me a day and a half! As a child it would have taken me maybe 5 minutes.....the joys of electronics!

Well our Christmas holiday was amazing....I loved being home with my family. I wish I could do it every year but I know I can't but I do plan on making the trip a little more frequently over the years.

Brayden was the sweetheart over the trip though as he said to my emotionally pregnant sister that we should come back next year for Christmas to which she asked why and he said "Because it'll be the baby's first Christmas!"....she bawled! as I did too..he's just a doll!

I guess we are going out for New Year's this year I was actually wanting to stay home this year but Brian wanted me to go out since he's doing food for the party! I said I'd go as long as he could find a relative to watch the kids...I just couldn't afford to get a sitter for that night. So he found one and we're going out!

Today I'm catching up on some rest that I need and doing some cleaning later this afternoon, we'll just have to see how much I accomplish! Good thing I have a bit of time off tomorrow too!

I was told by my mother in-law that Brian and I were getting our Christmas present early this year because it had to be delivered! So it's comming either tomorrow morning before 11am or after 330pm. I work from 12-10 so I'll either see it or the babysitter will first. Brian will even see it before me and I can't wait...it's so exciting!

So tonight we went to Brayden and Connor's grandpa's 6th birthday (for sobriety), at one of the local churches. The kids were very well behaved during the whole night. They had a couple times where they asked nonsence questions, but that was okay it's hard for a kid to sit that long and be so quiet and good! I was also impressed that the speakers made sure not to use foul language in front of the children. It was something they didn't have to do but chose to do.

After the meeting we had cake to celebrate the birthday (it was DQ ice cream cake at that!)and a few crackers and cheese, small sandwiches. As we were cleaning up the kids got a bit restless and started playing games. That was fine there were only a few people left and the kids weren't hurting anyone. We were getting ready to leave making sure everyone had their coats and hats when Connor's head got pushed (by accident thank goodness) and it hit a bench corner puncturing a hole in his little wee head. It bled, he cried, we cleaned him up and bandaged him. He's okay now in bed with some children's advil, but you know ....it always has to be something!

Yeah later today...(after I sleep first...lol) I'll be finishing my Christmas shopping! This is just so exciting, I'll be done. ! I can then wrap everything, and then concentrate on packing for our trip. It's getting closer and closer and I'm getting more excited by the day. I so miss my family and can't wait to see them again for Christmas.

So of course I worked last night and when that happens I don't usually get to bed till around 330am. Not normally a big deal because once I get the kids off to school I can go back to bed and sleep. Well not right now! Aparently the housing units I live in have some how decided we need to have our front step removed and replaced today! This morning in fact, right when I need to try and get some sleep. Not sure who thought this was a good idea 'cause it sure as heck wasn't me, and I thought our old front step was just fine so who knows. I hope they're done soon so I can catch a nap before I head back into work for noon today!

So here I am I had planned my day out to a "T", all was going good and then I sat down to wrap all my gifts and get them done so I could concentrate on getting everything else to pack for my trip up North! I pull out all the gifts. I pull out all the wrapping. I even put on my Christmas carols and put on the tree lights. It was quite a festive moment! I managed to get 3 gifts..oh no wait 4 gifts wrapped and then it happened..........

I ran out of tape!...............

The snow that is..... You see I have mixed feelings about this. I love the snow from the inside, on my couch, while drinking hot chocolate! That's about it, I'm not a fan after all that. The driving stinks, it's cold, it's wet...ugh!

Seeing as it is here I will hopefully take it as something that will make me want Christmas here sooner as I also just cannot imagine the holidays without it!
